For Students

Fun Facts!

My birthday is August 6, not July 4th like Glory Hemphill's. But I always had swimming parties to celebrate.

When I was in elementary school, I decided to be a librarian.

My most recent dog's names were Ginger and Barley. Now I have a basset grand-dog named Rocky. You can read about him here:

Although I lived and worked in New Jersey for a long time, I now live in St. Petersburg, FL.  I don't like cold weather! My book, THE WAY TO STAY IN DESTINY, takes place in Florida. I doubt I'll ever be able to set a book in New Jersey though.

When I was in sixth grade, at summer camp, two friends and I won the talent show with our Elvis impersonation act. You can read about that in an essay I wrote for a newspaper, HERE
Or see pictures of my Elvis statue, HERE.

The video of my THE WAY TO STAY IN DESTINY Book Party at the Dunedin Public Library (FL) can be found HERE.

Information about my newest book, MAKING FRIENDS WITH BILLY WONG, is HERE in an interview I did with a bookseller at Lemuria Books in Jackson, MS.

  1. I go to Pingry. When you visited our school, you gave my class a private q&a. You were friends with ms. Casey and our school's old librarian. Were you the librarian of other schools, or just Pingry?

  3. Hello, Alison.
I worked with Ms. Casey at Kent Place. She invited me to talk to your class before my book even came out! She and I are still great friends.
Thanks for writing and for remembering our fun visit.
