Day One. Arrival. Showing off my cabin. There's a sign in the window with my name on it. And it says Welcome BACK, Augusta. When you're a repeater, you get that Welcome Back thing.
Sigh.
I thought it was appropriate that this hung in my cabin. I won't show you the top of the calendar. Just know it was a blond who resembles me in no way. But the date is approximately the time I was going to be writing about during my days UNWorkshopping.
The last time I was here, it was November and a light snow fell. This time the flowers were breathtaking.
I love the lavender!

Jo suggested Teddie, Janet and I sit on the porch, or inside the Lodge, if we wanted to talk about what we'd written.
We did.

We walked this long and winding road. Mostly at the end of one of the fabulous meals prepared by Chef Joseph.

Actually, Caroline, I got back, worked solidly for 2 full days, and sent the manuscript to my agent for her thoughts. THEN I emailed you about a zillion times.

This is lovely. I have never unworkshopped, but I have been to a couple retreats and a half dozen workshops. It's a magical place. Glad you had such a great time.
I did the PB&J workshop in June and also had the welcome back sign as a greeting on my cabin window. Have to agree that Boyds Mills is truly a writer's (or Illustrator's) haven! Glad you enjoyed it!

I'm heading back to Highlights next month. I cannot wait for the workshop I'm attending! It's all about (wait for it) picture books. No surprise there!
Lucky you, Stacey. Wish I were going back tomorrow! Love hearing others' experiences. My friends and I decided there was something in the air that just makes you write better.
